The Journey Begins Within. Hair Health. Collagen amino acids, vitamin C and a realistic look at the evidence for hair and nail support.

Collagen is an important structural protein in the skin and connective-tissue environment around hair follicles. Fibroblast populations within the dermis include specialised cells associated with the hair-follicle dermal papilla.1

Onutricia provides hydrolysed collagen peptides, but human clinical evidence that oral collagen improves hair growth or thickness remains limited. It should not be presented as a treatment for hair loss.

Onutricia collagen with vitamin C capsules

Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin that contributes to normal collagen formation and supports the normal function of skin, bones, blood vessels, cartilage, teeth and gums.3

Vitamin C also acts as an antioxidant, helping to protect cells from oxidative stress caused by free radicals.3-4

Hair and nail condition can be influenced by age, genetics, hormones, illness, medication and overall nutrition. Collagen is only one part of that wider picture.

Support for brittle nails

One open-label study of a specific bioactive collagen-peptide ingredient reported faster nail growth and fewer broken nails after 24 weeks.2 It was not a placebo-controlled Onutricia trial, so individual results cannot be guaranteed.

What the product can provide

  • Hydrolysed bovine collagen peptides
  • Characteristic amino acids including glycine and proline
  • Protein-derived amino acids used throughout the body
  • Vitamin C support in the capsule formulation
  • Antioxidant support from vitamin C3-4
  • A supplementary, rather than complete, protein source

Healthy hair growth depends on active follicles and specialised cells within the dermal papilla. Fibroblasts produce structural proteins that form part of the surrounding extracellular environment.1

Early laboratory and mouse research has investigated particular fish-derived collagen peptides and hair-growth pathways.5 This preclinical evidence cannot be transferred directly to a bovine collagen product or treated as proof of a benefit in people.

A foundation for healthier-looking hair

01

Collagen support

Provides characteristic collagen amino acids. Direct human evidence for improved hair growth or thickness remains limited.

02

Vitamin C support

Contributes to normal collagen formation and helps protect cells from oxidative stress caused by free radicals.3-4
